Still Fire
I fell in love π with this plant not because of how it looked when I first saw it, although, that too, but because of its name! π My field of study is psychology π€ and I immediately wanted to have a succulent with such an expressive name that reminds me of my OTHER passion besides plants. π€©
I got this plant in August 2020, which was the very beginning of my succulent business. π΅ The sales picture was taken in the dark and I was not sure of the color π©, but I knew that it was 7cm (about 3") across and that the listing was dated June 10th.
When I got it, it was green πΏwith some brownish color on the leaf tips. π€¨ Of course, 2 summer months made it lose color, but I was not paying attention to that. I was in love! π The entire etiolated butch of plants that I got from that seller impressed me π to the point that I made a picture of it to become my banner (you can see it on my Facebook page). π₯³
And this Psyche is in the very middle of it. π
Ok, back to the present... This plant took 3 years to grow from 3" to 4", but it not just increased in size. It literally transformed into something amazing! π€©
First, I liked it for its name, but now I loooove π it for its looks. π₯° Only when it totally changed in appearance I recognized that this echeveria is of agavoides type, which has a specific leaf shape and pointy dark tips. π€ It reminds me of fireworks with its burst of color and pointy shape. It's like a fire frozen in the moment. π₯ What not to love about it? β€οΈβπ₯
Finally, the pot! This is not a regular pot, this is one made for me by my older son, Eldar. Eldar, just like Victor, took a semester of wheel-throwing for his GE, but he stopped right there. Thus, I have very few of his pots, but I believe he has talent. π
The pot is lightweight and well-shaped π plus it has an original design with gold shimmering achieved by a specific glaze. π The combination of this very special plant in an even more special pot makes this duo my favorite of favorites if I can say it like that. β€οΈβπ₯πβ€οΈβπ₯
This journal entry got a bit bigger than usual π€ͺ because I have a special relationship with the subject I am describing. Well... you can look at the pictures if you get bored reading. π€·ββοΈ
Oh, and one more thingβ¦
This Echeveria agavoides βPsycheβ got featured in my 4th of July Sale flier (here is a shot I took before creating the flier)! π This still or frozen-in-time fire fitted well the theme of fireworks. π₯
The pot is 4.5" in diameter.
