Hexagon to Square

My favorite today: Crassula 'Moonglow' hexagon

Let me tell you a sad story about how something unique and rare converted itself into a common thing that no one would look at twice. ๐Ÿฅบ
The story is about Crassula 'Moonglow'. ๐ŸŒ™ Generally, this is a very common type of crassula, except... it is supposed to have a square shape where two opposing leaves change direction at a 90-degree angle forming a leaf stack along the main stem. This specific specimen of Crassula 'Moonglow' did not follow the rule... ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

โ€ฆuntil it flowered! ๐Ÿ˜†

So, let me be specific. Before it started to develop the flower stalk, it had the leaves pairs not at 90, but at a 60-degree angle. This mutation in the stem, created a hexagon shape when looked at from the top. โœก๏ธ

Unfortunately, the flower stalk did not follow the pattern of the leaves, it just grew from the center where new leaves develop. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ The stalk ignored the fact that the plant had a unique leaf pattern and developed 2 pairs of leaves at a 90-degree angle, which ended the hexagon pattern.๐Ÿ˜ญ

This is a perfect example of buying a rare plant to see it transforming into a regular cheap one. ๐Ÿฅด After flowering, this crassula will have to create new heads around the base of the stem. I am 99% sure that the new heads will follow the pattern established by the flower stalk and not by the body of the plant. ๐Ÿ˜  Eventually, the hexagon part will disappear leaf by leaf as they dry out and fall off. ๐Ÿฅบ

However, I cannot finish a sad story on a sad note because it does not fit my optimistic personality! ๐Ÿ™ƒ I favor this hexagon crassula today and pay attention to it because it is a beautiful plant and still has its rare leaf pattern. ๐Ÿ˜ Most importantly, the tiny orange-red flowers ๐ŸŒน are very attractive. ๐Ÿ˜

I can imagine when this plant becomes multistemmed and has many-many such red flower bunches! ๐Ÿคฉ It would be still a sight to see! โฃ๏ธ For sure, this plant is a keeper because I cannot miss an opportunity to observe its transformation through the years. ๐Ÿค“

One last thing, the color of this crassula is stressed into orange. Usually, it is green. This is an additional point to be my favorite today! ๐Ÿคฉ

The pictured pot is 4โ€ wide.
